fall is here!

Late August-September Late August-September Late August-September Late August-September Late August-September Late August-September Late August-September That's right, summer has officially ended and we're in the beginning of a new and beautiful season! As always, summer slipped by much too fast. One day it was hot and I was wearing shorts and the next day (literally) I put on pants and socks! But I am happy about the change of weather. I used to love summer so much better, but these days I really am excited for chillier weather. That means more baking, crisp leaves, pumpkins, halloween and a whole new wardrobe. On that note, I'm finally getting started on my fall "collection." I know I'm utterly late, but then I always seem to be. However, I am trying to get back into a better routine now that the seasons have changed. Everyone is going back to school and it makes me want to be organized again. Summer always feels so scattered! Of course the house is a mess and I have several loads of laundry to do, but I'm going to get all that in shape this week. Now that I have an iPhone, it sure makes taking snapshots a whole lot easier! I'm going to try and carve out some time to blog, so hopefully you all will see me here more regularly.

What's your favorite season? Favorite clothing item this season? I'm on the hunt for some leather loafers. I haven't found the perfect pair yet! I also never thought I would ever wear flares again, but I am actually digging them pretty bad this year. Especially this dream pair by A.P.C. Perhaps when I get my budget figured out, I can save up. Or just make my own!

More of my instagram shots.

P.S. The second from the bottom picture is my mom on the day we celebrated her 59th birthday! She had a 1950's themed party and we watched the tv show The Hardy Boys. Mom remembered watching it when she was a little girl, even Grandma remembered! That's my grandma Sandholm (my mom's mom). It was so much fun! By the way, Mom also made the fall themed top she is wearing. :)

  1. I'm so pleased Autumn is here as there's nothing I like more than wearing comfy boots, tights and dresses. The last few summers in the UK have been a let down, but Autumn never disappoints!

I recently got an iphone too - it's great to always have a camera handy now! Your photos are lovely, as always :)

  5. lovely photos! I especially like the top two - you and jed are so cute! And is he still in grad school? (I'm reading on the couch with a pillow at the small of my back and a blanket over my knees, too - such a familiar image!)

my favorite season is autumn, I think because it's so fleeting; one good rainstorm and all the pretty leaves are in the gutter. I think the ephemerality of it makes one appreciate it more. I don't know about clothes ... I've got my eye on the Samantha Pleet X Wolverine 1000 mile collaboration (those nesbit boots in blue and black!) and there are some lacey cutout heels at anthro that make my heart go pitter-patter. But I'm also keeping an eye out for a leather circle skirt at the thrift stores, thinking about cool polka dot combos, and feeling the pull of the cosmic/galactic trend lately. I'm making myself a "nebula" inspired dress for halloween!

  6. I feel the cosiness settling in just looking at your beautiful pictures. I have just bought myself reams of writing paper to catch up with friends and family the old-fashioned way. Summer is postcards, winter is Christmas cards - autumn and spring are letters.

  7. I just knew that was your mom before I got to that part of your post! I love her shirt, too.

I think I love each season when it comes. I'm tired of the current one and ready for a change! I love living in a place with 4 distinct seasons. Wearing my sweater by the crisp breezy window right now. Lovely.

  8. Your pictures look so cozy, and your family is so cute! Lately I've been distracted by university exams, but now that I'm free I hope to devote myself more to Fall inspiration (and dream about the APC collection...;))

PS: I didn't know the Hardy Boys, but now I'm really curious about them!
    Hugs!! :)

  9. I love the couch! Looks like a sweet and cozy place to read and relax :)

We have a big (8ft) leather couch that I am loving/hating, and trying to decide whether we want to sell for a smaller, more shapely number.

  11. Fall isn't quite here in Florida. The only thing that tipped me off was the Pumpkin Spice Lattes popping up. It doesn't get cold until November. And even then, it's kind of hit or miss!

But I wouldn't trade watching people hang Christmas lights in shorts for anything.
