a short film.

3.23.2011

I know I am incredibly late in showing you all this, but better late than never right? Last Fall/Winter my sister Katie and my brother John wanted to make a short film about a seamstress working away in her studio, so they asked if I would be willing to be filmed. I said sure thing! Except I had a lot of work to get done, so what you are seeing is me actually doing work. Not just sewing random scraps of fabric. :) Hope you enjoy the amazing talents of my siblings! xo

p.s. i didn't dress in anything special for the camera either. i had at least one good layer of clothing under everything i was wearing. yes, my studio was freezing!

  6. What a lovely video - I loved everything! My favorite parts perhaps where you are spritzing the cloth and ironing it or the shot of your feet (and the scraps)while you were sewing. It was all very well done - I hope we will see more from your very talented siblings!

  7. This is really lovely with fantastic angles/perspectives. I'm curious why they wanted to make a short film of a seamstress?

  11. Anna, the music accompanying this film is so haunting. I've never heard of Balmorhea and now I want to go out and buy a CD! I loved the shot of you walking across the field with the trees in the background. The whole thing was so spare and beautiful. Your siblings are very talented, as are you! Gorgeous work.

  17. thank you all for the comments on this film! i will show my brother and sister this page. they will be happy to see you all liked it! :)

alissa, i think they just wanted to make a film and thought they liked the building i live in, so they decided to use my sewing as a backdrop. it was just a fun little project so they could experiment with film making. ;)

martha, they used a cannon 7d (i hope i got that right) which is what my sister uses for her work. she does a lot of filming and editing at the design firm she works for.

missblack, yep! i love those scissors. i just wish they would last longer! seems like either they only last 6 months or so before it breaks. :/ perhaps i should invest in a real heavy duty pair of shears!

valerie, yes yes indeed i am! i haven't cut my hair for at least a year. it sure takes a long time, though. it's past my shoulders a couple inches now. wish it would grow faster!

thanks again for all of your super sweet comments!
