twenty-eight

 

Well, I guess I am officially one year older by now! It perhaps is a little strange to think in just two short years I'll be thirty! Just the other day I was told I looked more like twenty. Ah, I suppose that sort of thing will never end. I guess that is better than someone saying you look 40 when you are actually 30? Anyway, maybe someday my baby face will "grow up" and I'll look more adult. ;)

  I didn't write much about my birthday and I'm not sure why! I guess I was busy all day on that special day and so I didn't have a lot of time to take pictures of my cake etc. Busy talking on the phone mostly! It was a really lovely birthday, however! It was also Jed's last day of classes at the university, so he was gone most of the day, but when he came back he took me to a really classy restaurant down the street. I think that was one of the best meals I've had in my life, come to think of it! Then we came home, ate the chocolate ice cream cake I made earlier that day and passed out on the couch while watching Gidget! I have a lot of fun memories from watching that cute little teen flick. My best friend for all of my growing-up years and her sister and I watched that movie on her 16th birthday in her basement. Their house was located just behind my house ("a field away" as we used to say) and the older of the two sisters' birthday was only six days apart from my birthday. It was fate that we were going to be best friends from the day my family and I moved into that little green farm house back in 1991.
  I've had some really great memories in my 28 years of life. I feel really blessed to be able to say that. I feel like I should have a list of goals to reach by the time I turn 30, but that might take some time to think through and write down. I am happy right now where I am and utterly blessed by Jed every day. Really, life is pretty grand! For now all I know is that I want to keep working harder every day to be a better person, a better partner to my husband and to never stop working as hard as I can for the things that matter most. I am excited to see what this year will bring! xoxo

This weekend my mom and sister are coming up to celebrate their birthdays! I cannot wait for them to get here! Think I'll go bake an apple pie. Hope everyone has a wonderful fall weekend!

birthday boy turns 25!

Last Friday we celebrated Jed's birthday. His mom got out the old picture slides and we watched them on the living room wall. Then we ate chocolate cake and Jed opened his gifts! It really was the perfect day.

twenty-five.

I am sitting here totally lazy, still in my pj's and drinking a cup of coffee in the most lovely green cup and saucer my friend Megan gave me for my birthday! She's so awesome. I have the best friends.

This past weekend was SO MUCH FUN! A friend randomly told me about an event up in Wisconsin last Friday. It was so last minute that I didn't even think I'd go, but somehow it all worked out and within two hours I was on the road to a beautiful rural spot in Wisconsin! Yes, it's another living history thing. I had zero expectations about this event, so I had an absolute blast! I brought just enough with me so I could carry everything I needed. The entire time my feet were soaked and the hem of my dress was wet and muddy. Except never really keeping warm (and the fact that my sunburn was kind of bothering me) it really was a great experience. I love sleeping out in the wilderness. Even though you rarely get any sleep because you have to sleep in all of your clothes plus corset, with one blanket and no padding, no pillow and sometimes no covering over your head. But I honestly had a wonderful time out there. I also got to see some pals I haven't seen in ages. A few of which I had no idea would be there, so it was great bumping into them! I love being in a crazy dorky hobby. You get to meet so many interesting people. I think that part of it is one of the most enjoyable. I could go on and on and on, but I think I'll stop now and go take my shower. Hope everyone is having a lovely day!

birthday month.

Today is my friend Rachel's birthday. She just turned 25 and I've known her for 18 years. How time flies. Our birthdays are 6 days apart. I baked her a cake and we got together with friends last night to celebrate. It's nice to know you can be friends with someone this long.
