I'm selling a bunch of clothes over at my Yard Sale blog if you care to take a look! There are many vintage items from the 1930s-'60s as well some things I don't wear anymore. Please help me clean out my closet!

all things nautical.

Who would have thought that the perfect striped top would be found in the girls section at Lands' End? I just got this striped sailor shirt in the mail in size XL and it fits perfectly and it's softer than the women's version. I also couldn't help but pick up this nautical tote bag while I was at it. If you ask me, you can never have too many striped tops or tote bags.

p.s. there's a "sail" (couldn't help it) going on at lands' end and today is the last day! 20% off sale items and free shipping. Just add the Promotion Code SPRINGSALE20 and PIN 1156 in the space provided at checkout.

spring is finally here!

out by the lake.

Jed and I went for a walk by the lake yesterday and it was the perfect spring day! Finally it is starting to warm up. Although today it is rather chilly out, I have hope that we'll be seeing a lot more green outside before long.

Let me start your week off with a poem by Emily Dickinson. One of my favorite poets (as well as Jed's). Although we don't have bees in the house, we have many wasps finding their way through the walls and cracked floor boards. And it reminds me that spring really is here.

THE BEE.

Like trains of cars on tracks of plush
I hear the level bee:
A jar across the flowers goes,
Their velvet masonry

Withstands until the sweet assault
Their chivalry consumes,
While he, victorious, tilts away
To vanquish other blooms.

His feet are shod with gauze,
His helmet is of gold;
His breast, a single onyx
With chrysoprase, inlaid.

His labor is a chant,
His idleness a tune;
Oh, for a bee's experience
Of clovers and of noon!

scones with my sister.

My sister came to visit a couple of weeks ago and I made scones with lemon curd and fresh strawberries. If only I could have this every morning!
